June – August
Outpost fishing trips are among the most popular angling adventures in Canada. The fishing in the north country hasn’t changed much and still offers fast paced action for walleye and big northern pike. So much so, that a guide is rarely needed. If you’re a competent boatsman and angler, you’ll have the fishing experience to remember. Plus, it’s one of the best values in the angling world. These ten individual outposts are located between 150 – 250 miles northeast of Ft. Frances in northwest Ontario. Conveniently located just across the border from International Falls, Minnesota, this is the jumping off point for some incredible Canadian fishing. Nine of the outposts can comfortably sleep up to eight guests in three bedrooms and the tenth outpost can sleep up to 24 in three cabins, and is a great choice for a corporate or family retreat. Accessible only by float-plane (no roads), these outposts see little to no fishing pressure and are exclusive to your party. For the do-it-yourself angler look no further than a Canadian outpost experience. Contact our office for available dates.
Each outpost is equipped with the following:
Four 14’ Lund boats (more boats at the larger outpost) with 9.9 h.p motors, boat seats, cushions, paddles, nets, minnow buckets
3-bedroom cabin
Hot and cold running water
Showers
Fish houses
2 refrigerators & freezers
Propane run fridge & stove
Solar lighting
Screened-in porches

Sample Schedule: Day 1 – Fly to International Falls, MN. After collecting your bags, contact North Air Tax (807-274-5301) for a shuttle across the border to your float-plane base. Depending on your outpost and travel schedule, an overnight in Ft. Frances may be required. Float-planes depart Ft. Frances at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m (depending on the outpost). Day 2 – You will be flown to your outpost, given a brief orientation and begin fishing. Days 3-5: Continued fishing. Day 6: Fish this morning then return to Ft. Frances between 3-4 p.m. (weather pending) and continue to International Falls for your return flight home.
Easy: Farm or ranch hunts from stands or blinds. Substantial use of 4x4 pickups, UTVs. Most whitetail deer hunts.
Moderate: These hunts are mostly conducted on private ranches. Species include mule deer, elk, antelope, some caribou and African plains game hunts. Moderate to light hiking each day in semi-mountainous terrain.
Difficult: These hunts are a true wilderness experience and are usually conducted on horseback, hunting species such as elk, moose, bear, some mountain lion and African Cape buffalo. Difficult to extreme hiking and backpacking can be involved.
Extreme: All sheep hunts, goat, most grizzly and brown bear, some mountain lion and elephant. The terrain and/or animals can involve some dangerous situations. These hunts will probably require extreme physical endurance and some athletic ability.
